More than once, Boise has been named one of the best places to live in America for various reasons, including being one of the best places to raise a family and best places to retire. Well, Yahoo Shine just added Idaho's capital city to another "Best Places…" list. According to the article, it, along with cities like San Diego, Long Beach and Boulder, ranks as one of the 9 fittest cities in the West. It's no wonder that so many people look at Boise, Idaho real estate when they're thinking of relocating from neighboring states. Just living here has the potential to make you healthy!

With spring and summer on their way, this seemed a good time to check out some of the events and Boise amenities that allow residents here to enjoy living in one of the top 9 fittest cities in the West.

Take a look…It's time to go outside!

The Boise Greenbelt: A Gem in the Gem State

Chief among the Boise attractions that seem to help the people in the City of Trees stay fit is the Boise greenbelt. Anyone who is a fan of this Treasure Valley outdoor gym will agree; some of the best things to do in Boise are not only free, but right on the bike path.

For example, although you might have trouble seeing it on the Boise greenbelt map, one of the hottest pieces of Boise, Idaho real estate is in Ann Morrison Park. An outdoor gym waits for any fitness enthusiast who happens to be on the Boise greenbelt near Americana Boulevard.

A stop off at this greenbelt amenity allows you to do a full workout, including pull ups, parallel bar work and time on the rowing machine. While the people who own Boise homes near here have an advantage it terms of quick access, the ride to this destination is a great workout and fun, too.

While there are plenty of Boise running events like the Great Potato race and the Thanksgiving Turkey Trot, one of the most popular as well as the largest of these Boise activities is the St. Luke's Women's Fitness Celebration or FitOne as it's now called.

This event inspires women to get fit -- often in groups as friends run together as teams -- and celebrate fitness. And don't worry if you haven't yet made the decision to buy one of the Boise homes for sale. Plenty of people who don't live in Idaho love this race and travel from long distances to participate.
