It might be a source of pride to be named one of the best places to live in America by Forbes. However, Boiseans may be inclined to worry a little now that Boise has made yet another 2014 "Best of" list for the magazine, this time for "Best Places to Raise a Family."
Will all these accolades cause an influx of people who want to buy Boise real estate? Who knows? Chances are, if people do move this way, it won't only be the fact that Boise counts among the best places to live in the US because of attractions like Bogus Basin or the Idaho Shakespeare Festival or the greenbelt and the Boise River. In fact, it was Boise's outdoor recreational opportunities that helped it land on the list.
Forbes does say that Boise isn't an "economic juggernaut," which may explain why it only ranks #7 in the top 10. However, the financial publication doesn't delve deeper into what it means when it says that.
After all, we aren't without our gifts and opportunities on the job front. The City of Trees happens to be home to some of the area's largest employers. Tech giants, Micron and Hewlett Packard, call Boise home as do the regional medical centers at St. Luke's and St. Al's. These employers not only attract the local pool of employees, but offer enough economic opportunities to attract people from all over by the thousands.
What are the Best Places to Live in the USA?
Raleigh, NC tops the list, with Forbes citing strong finance and banking institutions as well as low crime as its reasoning for giving the southern city the top spot on this best places to live list.
Besides Boise, Ogden, UT and Provo, UT were the only other western cities to make the list, landing on the list at 3rd and 10th respectively.
